Biscit Calls for Government to Provide Students and Senior Citizens with Phone and Broadband Subsidies

London, October 23, 2006 - Communications service provider (CSP) Biscit today launches a campaign aimed at encouraging government to provide students and senior citizens with subsidies for both phone and broadband services. Biscit hopes that competitors, strategic suppliers and industry associations will join it in forming a lobby group to support these important socio-economic groups.

"Phone and broadband services are now everyday commodities for users who will help build our economy, and those that already have, and both groups should receive government support to get the full benefit," says Hugh Paterson, Biscit's CEO. He adds: "Subsidies exist for education, travel and heating. We believe they should also exist for calling and surfing."

The CSP will now begin consultative discussions with other industry leaders such as Sky, Carphone Warehouse, BT Wholesale, the ISPA and Netservices with a view to forming the lobby group as soon as possible.
